Learning About 2 Cycle Oil and Boat Maintenance

I developed a genuine love for boating as time went on and I always imagined myself being able to get my boating license and take a boat out on a lake myself. Eventually, as I grew older, I was able to accomplish this goal, though I realized I didn’t know as much about boats as I would have liked to.

After I got my boating license, I started looking into boats more and learning more about them. I figured out which boats needed 2 cycle oil and how to mix it in with the fuel. I learned about the different parts that were in a boat and how they needed to be maintained. I want to eventually know enough about boats that I can do mechanical work on my own boat.

For instance, when I was purchasing my boat, I probably went on every single major boating website you could think of to check out reviews and figure out exactly what the right boat for me would be.

Similarly, once I did select and purchase my boat, I started picking up as many books as possible that were related to boating and boat maintenance. He’s got a lot of buyer’s anxiety so whenever he decides to go shopping, he usually grabs me or one of our other friends to go along with him so that we can help guide him towards what he needs or reassure him that he’s making the right purchase.

His most recent stressful purchase was a boat; he brought all of his friends along to help him make that decision. We also helped him figure out the other basic items that he would need to go along with his boat for general maintenance. For instance, we chose Optimax oil because it was the perfect choice to go with his boat’s outboard motor.

Betting with Evinrude Oil

xd50My best friend and I can be a little on the competitive side. We’re always finding ways to turn things into bets and competitions. Most recently, when we were hanging out on a boating trip, we decided that we would have a fishing contest. All we needed to do was set up the parameters of the bet, so we could figure out exactly what the stakes would be.

I promised that I would buy him some Evinrude oil for his boat if he won the contest, and he said he would do the same for me if I won. I thought that would be a fair wager and that we were pretty evenly matched. I was wrong about one thing though; he caught way more fish than I did. He’s clearly more of an expert fisherman than I am, but I was happy to pay up.

Evinrude XD 100 Oil And An Early Summer

evinrudeIt appears that summer has come early this year. The sun has been shining every day and we’ve pretty much got California weather this week in Washington, which has been a nice change of pace from the cold and the fog that is more typical of mornings in May. With this beautiful weather not showing any signs of letting up, it’s about time I start making the most of it.

I’ve already started making plans with friends to hit the water this weekend. We’re going to fill the boat up with some Evinrude XD 100 oil, make sure it’s clean and fully maintained, and then I think we’re going to take it over to eastern Washington for some fishing.

Mercury Oil Fuels Great Pastimes

civicconcet 359One of my favorite foods is properly cooked salmon. Whenever I decide to cook up some salmon, I always try to make a new and interesting dish with it, because I really love cooking; I would say it is one of my favorite pastimes. Sometimes I’ll make a grilled salmon and spinach salad with peach dressing; other times I’ll prepare some salmon chowder with bacon.

My other favorite pastime is going fishing, so the two really go hand in hand, because I love to catch my own salmon. I get to be involved with the entire process; filling my boat up with Mercury oil, going out and fishing for some salmon, and then bringing it home and coming up with some new recipe that my wife and kids will enjoy as much as I do.

Fishing In Iowa And Outboard Motor Oil

038335_headlineThough it’s about as far away from oceans that you could be, Iowa still manages to have plenty of awesome places for fishing. In particular, I like to take my boat out to the Mississippi River in the east. It’s pretty well known for having a very broad assortment of fish such as bass, catfish, pike, walleye, and panfish. There are tons of access points to the river as well.

There are other places to fish in Iowa as well, such as a number of lakes, trout streams, smaller rivers, and the Missouri River on the west, where most people go to catch blue catfish. All you need to do is get a fishing license, a boat, and fuel up with some outboard motor oil, and you’re ready to head out on the water to catch some fish.

Smokey Engine

604066900_8b06be5115_oI like to say that I am a loyal individual.  I’ve been with my wife for over twenty years,  I’ve supported my teams for my entire life it seems like, and I only use one brand of underwear.  My parents are the same way which explains why I am also.  They taught me that if something or someone never does me wrong, then it’s safe to stick with it until you need to do otherwise.

I’ve had my boat for the better part of ten years.  I like to take it out fishing on the weekends and enjoy some quiet time with myself or with some friends and family.  I’ve been using once specific brand of oil on my outboard engine and it hasn’t given me a problem until recently.  My engine has been more smoky than usual lately.  A friend of my suggested that I try some Mercury 2 Cycle Oil and see if it does anything different.  The result was the same so I guess it’s time to take the engine to a mechanic to see what is wrong with it.

Full Day

joupdogdadI enjoy running errands on my days off.  I feel like I am accomplishing a lot of little things that look good when crossed off of my “to do” list.  There are bigger tasks I need to do that would require more time, but I like to get the little things out of the way so I can focus all of my attention on that bigger task.

Today, I had to go to the bank to deposit some checks.  Then I decided to get some coffee before heading to the mall to return some pants.  I don’t like waiting on long lines at customer service to return items but it had to be done.  It only took twenty minutes of my time and the customer service representative was nice and polite.  Good customer service can go a long way for a company.  Finally I had to stop at the store to pick up some Mercury engine oil because I was running low.  I spent the rest of the day assembling furniture that my wife bought.

Cutting Costs

budget-axe-300x177Owning a boat is very rewarding but it’s also very expensive.  Maintenance, dock fees, and insurance are enough to turn a lot of people away from boat ownership.  The feeling I get of being able to go out onto the water whenever I want is enough to counteract the stress and financial strain of owning my own boat.  I’ve been around boats ever since I was a child and there’s nothing I love more than feeling the wind in my hair and the sea spray in my face when I’m out on the water.

I try to take advantage of any sales on boating products and accessories that come my way.  Every little bit helps.  I like to buy used parts from other owners or scrap yards and do all of the work myself.  I also like to buy bulk Mercury Optimax oil because it’s cheaper than just buying it individually.  My boat was given to me by my father and he took very good care of it.  I just do my best to maintain it as well as he did.  He taught me everything I know about boats and I hope to be able to teach my son too someday.
