Boat Engine Basics ~ Compression

Compression within the boat engine is yet another essential part of maintaining a steady operating vessel. The compression is more of an action that a specific part of the engine. Here are the basic steps that need to occur to ensure the proper compression within the boat engine takes place:

• The cylinder must not leak any power when the spark ignites the fuel
• The rings around the piston must press against the cylinder wall exactly
• The valve seats must fit exactly in their guides

The timing must be exact in all areas and the parts may not be worn down or damaged, otherwise the engine will not run at full power. However, you can help things along with the clean power of Yamalube 2W oil.

Boat Engine Basics ~ Fuel Delivery

Fuel delivery is an essential part of ensuring the operation ability of any boat engine. The purpose of this system is to mix together air and the fuel and then meter this mixture to the cylinder for ignition. There are two different types of fuel delivery methods that may be used in a boat engine: fuel injection or a carbureted system.

Both systems serve the same purpose; they just operate a little differently. But let’s focus on the properties they have in common. When a piston in pulled downward in the cylinder, the intake valve is opened and air is then pulled into the intake manifold. The fuel is then combined with air as it passes through the open valve into the cylinder. This process is also controlled by the timing shaft.

Clean and powerful engines prefer Yamalube 2M oil to ensure smooth sailings.

Boat Engine Basics ~ The Ignition Part 2

Yesterday we began to discuss the basic parts of a boat engine, starting with the ignition system, in an effort to educate boat owners on the basic functions of their boat. Don’t forget that understanding the primary design and purpose of the essential parts of your boat will only help keep you out of the repair shop if something is to go wrong with the operating system of the boat.

The overview of the ignition system ended yesterday with the power stroke being called into action by a spark igniting the fuel in the cylinder. The entire process that was outlined yesterday is timed by the rotation of the cam shaft raising and lowering the intake valves. Then, turned in perfect time with the intakes valves and , the belt from the cam shaft turns the device inside the distributor. In conclusion, if any parts of the engine fail, the boat engine will run poorly or not at all.

However, you can ensure a smoother running engine with Evinrude XD 50 oil.

Boat Engine Basics ~ The Ignition

Doesn’t it make sense to say that you would save yourself plenty of time and money if you knew the basic mechanics of the design and function of your car? Well, the same can be said for your boat. Learning the how your boat engine operates can save you from having to frequent the repair shop if problems are to arise. Therefore, this week our focus will be to better understand the basic parts of a boat engine.

Let’s take a look at the boat’s ignition. The main purpose of the ignition system is to ignite the fuel because when fuel burns power is created. Now, starting at the beginning of this process, when you turn the key to power up the boat engine, electricity will flow from the battery through a voltage regulator and into the coil. Energy is store in the coil until it reaches 100,000 volts. Then, at the right moment, during the compression stroke in a certain cylinder, the coil releases the high voltage through the plugs wires to the spark plug. The spark then ignites the fuel in the cylinder and drives the piston down for a power stroke.

Check back tomorrow for Part 2 of the Ignition series and learn why Evinrude XD 100 oil is friendly to boat engines.

Spotlight on Best Boats for Freshwater Fishing ~ Part 5

Boats that deliver a midway point between luxury and sport include the inboard cruisers, which feature a sleeping cabin and plenty of deck space. These vessels are typically 30-plus feet in length and are ideal for weekend voyages, fishing expeditions and fun in the sun with friends or family.

Another great vessel for entertaining, pontoon boats provide ample space for multiple passengers and a stable and spacious platform for fishing. But if speed is all you’re after, I would invest in a jet boat, which is praised for its top speed and maneuverability. These boats are ideal for all water sports including recreational fishing. And, bringing up the opposite end of the spectrum, Jon boats are all about fishing as they lack the fancy extras and high power of models like the jet boat. Jon boats are simple and inexpensive and they feature a flat-bottom design with 1 to 3 bench seats.

All boats enjoy the rich power and luxury conditioning provided by Evinrude XD 50 oil.

If simplicity is your forte when it comes to life and fishing, you might want to look into the dinghies. Dubbed on of the least complex fishing boats on the market, the dinghy is small and lightweight, which makes it perfect to strap onto the roof of a car or even tow behind a larger boat to deliver versatility in fishing location.

Flat boats are another simple fishing boat option that delivers a no-frills fishing trip with their flat-top design and lightweight frame. These vessels can venture into shallow parts of the water that are less than two-feet deep, which makes them a great resource for costal areas. For unbeatable convenience and portability, try the inflatable boats, which deliver a fishing vessel that’s easy to store and very low in cost.

Even the simplest boats enjoy the power of Yamalube 2M oil!
