The Best of the Best

I’ve always been really paranoid about keeping all of my electronics in tip-top condition. I’m always using screen protectors on smartphones and constantly updating my computer. I do the same sort of thing with vehicles as well. I probably get maintenance done on my car about twice as much as anyone else I know.

It’s also important to me to use only the best maintenance materials as well. I bought a boat recently and I treat it just as well as I treat my other possessions. For example, I only use the best outboard motor oil for my boat; it’s very important so that its engine is always running smoothly.

Boat Maintenance

When you’re thinking about boat maintenance, there are a lot of things to consider. Obviously, it’s good to get a mechanic or someone who knows boats fairly well to make sure everything’s in good shape before you take it out on the water. You should also make sure it’s clean, because rust and other filth can be very harmful to your boat.

Just don’t forget to apply some Yamalube 2M oil to your boat’s engine, if that’s what it calls for, so you can be sure that your boat’s in great condition before you take it out on open water. Nothing’s worse than getting stuck out in the middle of a lake or the ocean because you didn’t properly take care of your boat.

Mosquito Lagoon

I was visiting some friends in Florida and one of my friends recently purchased a boat and decided to take us all out fishing while we were there for the week. He took us to this place he had gone before called Mosquito Lagoon. It was pretty cool; he was telling us facts like how there were some fish that only bred in that lagoon system.

There were a lot of interesting wild birds in the area too, which was interesting to look at. A lot of people were out clamming in the area as well. We put some Mercury outboard oil into the boat and we were able to have a great time.

A Boat Fixer-Upper

My friend recently purchased a fixer-upper boat. I worried about this because I feel like it’s a little dangerous to be using a boat that you know needs to be fixed up, considering using a boat typically involves being out in the middle of open water and a boat breaking down on you out there would be bad, to say the least. Nobody wants to get stuck in the middle of nowhere, especially if you have to swim to safety.

But he’s been working on it non-stop. He’s got more of a mechanical brain than I do, so perhaps he understands how a fixer-upper truly can be fixed better than me. He took it out for the first time a couple weeks ago. He put some outboard motor oil in his boat and it’s been working fine.

Biggest Fish Contest

I was fishing with a close buddy of mine and we decided to make a gentleman’s wager in regards to who could catch the biggest fish. Neither of us had ever really caught a whopper before, but we figured it was something that could allow us to test, perhaps, which of us was the better fisherman. Or at the very least, it’d just be a fun, interesting way to spice up our fishing trip.

We were fishing for hours and honestly, we weren’t getting very many bites until the very end of the night, surprisingly enough. We each caught a single fish by the end of it all. He won the bet and I had to give him a bottle of Mercury engine oil for his boat.

Life Imitates Video Games

When I was younger, one of my favorite video games was Wave Race 64. It was a Nintendo 64 game where you would race around on jet skis that looked a lot like Waverunners. My friends and I played it so often that we would only even attempt to play it on Expert difficulty, considering we were all so good.

Now that I’m grown up and the Nintendo 64 is long behind me, I recently wound up purchasing a Waverunner so that I can learn to do the things I liked in the video game in real life. While I might not be going off extravagant jumps or anything like in the video game, it’s still an exhilarating experience. Now, I just stock up on Waverunner oil and I hit the water!

Buying a Boat

I’m not the type of person who just buys something without doing his research. I’m big on reading Consumer Reports and searching for optimum information online about whatever might interest me at the time. Most recently, I found myself interested in purchasing a boat, something I’d wanted for a long time.

Once I’d finally decided I’d done enough research to make a decision, I went out to purchase a boat. I was enthused to be able to have something new to do on the weekends, finding new interesting places to go boating and fishing in my area. To keep my new boat in good condition, I always make sure to stock up with outboard oil and everything else it needs to keep it in tip-top shape.

Croatian Coast

The next big summer hot spot, according to People magazine, is the Croatian coast. That one made me scratch my head. When I think of Croatia my mind doesn’t immediately go to tropical paradise.

Apparently, the historic city of Dubrovnik sits right on the Adriatic Sea and is quite beautiful and budget friendly. Grilled octopus, I read, is a specialty along the Croatian coast. With all the money I’ve saved by purchasing affordable Evinrude outboard oil over the years, maybe I’ll be able to afford a trip to such an off-beat destination.

Bulk Motor Oil

While distracting myself from all the paperwork and financials I’ll need to get in order to start a business, I’ve been searching for deals on bulk outboard motor oil. If you know where to look, then you can get some truly incredible deals. Good prices are available not only on cheap lubricants but on quality bulk outboard motor oil.

When I do order bulk oil, I always make a point in asking about the type of container it will come in. You don’t want to wind up with a rusted container that will leak. Ideally you want a container that can hold up for several years in fluctuating temperatures.

Learning About Licenses

One area I need to give more consideration before opening a charter fishing boat business is licenses. Preliminary searches online show that I’ll need to acquire a business license, multiple boating licenses, and multiple fishing licenses. That involves a lot of paperwork and fees. Plus, the rules, particularly on the state and county levels, can change every year.

That’s a lot of overhead right off the bat, which concerns me. Not to mention, I’d have to hire a small crew and pay them decent wages. Still, I think that this charter business could be something I could really excel in. To take my mind off these worries I like to shop for bargains on bulk motor oil that I could purchase for my future fleet.

Yamaha Lubricants

Yesterday I wrote about the guys’ weekend I attended in lieu of a traditional bachelor party. After we docked from the fishing tip, I took the first mate up on his offer to take a look at the different oils they keep stocked. Sure enough, in their store room there was a whole wall lined with Yamaha lubricants.

Though Yamaha lubricants are versatile, the first mate explained, the fleet owner makes sure that only the factory recommended boat motor oil. I started poking around the rest of the storage shed and talking to the first mate about what it takes to start a charter fishing boat business. He and I chatted a bit more and I took down his contact information just in case I had more questions about the industry.

Synthetic Oils and Sports Cars

For the best protection, many high-end sports cars come filled with synthetic oil. “For most applications, stick with the manufacturer’s recommended oil. But if you want to better protect your engine over the long term, especially against extreme abuse like towing or constant stop-and-go-traffic, synthetic might be for you,” said Ron Sullivan, Penzoil’s technology manager, to “Popular Mechanics.”

What Sullivan said rings true for outboard motors, as well. Synthetic oils flow regardless of temperature, which helps with cranking in cold temperatures and flow in exceedingly hot temperatures. Synthetics might be right for you, but first start with what your manufacturer recommends, which is frequently Yamalube 2M.
