Evinrude Oil For My Boat

BeckerLakeI have a friend who has always been loyal to Yamaha products; he’s a musician who has always loved using their musical instruments, so when it came to purchasing items for his boat and other vehicles, it was sort of a no-brainer for him. He suggested that I use Yamaha products as well, but I wanted to make sure the items I used were perfect specifically for my boat.

While I’m certain that Yamaha products work perfectly for him, I actually did some research and found out that with my particular boat, Evinrude oil would be the best choice for maximum efficiency. It’s always important to do the research before you purchase products for your vehicle’s maintenance so you can properly meet its needs.

Storing Bulk Outboard Motor Oil

xd30pts6There are a few guys that I’m friends with in my neighborhood that have gotten boats recently. I have the biggest garage on the block, so I’ve been offering my services to store boat-related things in my garage, so that my neighbors and friends can have a little more room in their own garages.

What we did was we pooled our money together and bought a decent amount of bulk outboard motor oil, which is largely being stored in my garage. Each of them has a small amount at their own home, but because my garage is so big, there’s room for a lot of this extra stuff, and they can easily come over and grab up some motor oil whenever they need it.

The Store Without Outboard Oil

miss force s80 2012_322x228There’s a small boating store in my hometown that I go to every now and then when I’m looking for supplies for my boat. Unfortunately, when I say that it’s small, I mean it’s REALLY small and they don’t really have a great selection of products. The problem is that they have products that cater to certain boats or types of boaters but not others.

The other problem is that they don’t really restock frequently enough. They never carry the outboard oil that works best on my boat, so I usually wind up purchasing it online. I think that the store would be a lot more successful if they made sure to stock up on these things so that people like me could easily find what we need.

Changing Your Boat Motor Oil

marina_mainEven as someone who has had a boat for a few years, I still don’t know a whole lot about what makes it tick. I often rely on friends and professionals who have more experience with boating than me when it comes to making decisions regarding how to properly take care of my boat. I figure following their advice is my best bet to get the most out of having a boat.

One thing I’ve definitely learned to make sure I do, from friends and professionals at boating stores and repair shops alike, is that I should always be on top of changing the boat motor oil. In order to keep a boat running properly for a long time, which is precisely what I would like to do, you have to stay on top of that, or you can run into problems pretty quickly.

Yamalube 2-M Oil For The Springtime

3300_2_m_11_60_10201It’s getting to be that time of year again when we’re starting to see the Sun peek out from behind the clouds and occasionally getting weekends where there’s some nice weather. As an avid boater, this means one thing for me: that I finally get to take my boat back out on some of my favorite lakes.

I always get really excited when we first start getting these pseudo-spring days where it’s legitimately sunny out and even if it’s not really warm out yet, it’s still a sign of things to come. Whenever the weather starts to get like this, I always rush out and start getting supplies for my boat, like Yamalube 2-M oil, so that I can be completely ready at a moment’s notice to take it out on the open water.

Yamalube Oil Or Something Else?

black-oilA lot of people ask what the differences between most oils are. It is true that, at its core, most oils do the same exact thing. They lubricate the engine and keep it from overheating. Some oils do it better than others because some oils are fully synthetic and other are just semi-synthetic. Manufacturers suggest that you use their specific brands of oil for their engines but what happens if you use something else?

Yamaha recommends that I use their specific brand of Yamalube Oil on my outboard engine. They say that their oil is specially formulated for their engines and using something else might have negative impacts on the engine. I heard from other people that they don’t like using the more expensive oil because the cheaper oil does pretty much the same thing than its more expensive counterparts. My preference is to stick to what the manufacturer tells you to avoid unnecessary harm to a very expensive piece of equipment. I would much rather spend a few extra dollars on motor oil than to have to replace my outboard engine. But to each his own, I guess.

Using Two Cycle Outboard Oil In A Bind

imagesI’m the kind of guy who takes good care of his lawn and yard. I mow the lawn every weekend and eliminate weeds and other unsightly plant life that are growing in my yard. My yard is as well maintained as a Major League Baseball outfield. In fact, I use the same products the major ballparks use to keep their grass healthy and visually appealing. My neighbors compliment me on my grass every time they see me.

This last weekend, I had to remove a rotting tree from my backyard. I could have hired professionals to do it but I felt I could have done it on my own with the help of a friend. I had a chainsaw, an axe and some rope to work with. The plan was to use the chainsaw to cut through the trunk halfway and pull it down with the rope. Things were going well until I realized that I didn’t have enough fuel in my chainsaw. I didn’t want to drive to the gas station so I mixed the remainder of the fuel with some leftover two cycle outboard oil. It was good enough for us to get through the tree trunk.

Seeking The Perfect Ratio of 2 Stroke Oil and Fuel

imagesI’m the kind of person that likes to figure things out on his own. I ask for help occasionally, but only if I really don’t know what I’m doing. Most of the time, I’m fine with using the trial and error approach. I like to think that the best way to learn to do something is by actually doing it.

The one thing that I have been trying to figure out for a while is the fuel to oil ratio for my outboard engine. I’ve tried a lot of different combinations with a lot of mixed results. I’ve flirted with the perfect ratio a couple of times but I always try to look for a better ratio. Some of my buddies have their own ratios figured out but I like to keep trying out different things until I am satisfied that I have found the right one. I’ve experimented with different brands of 2 stroke oil and fuel but I’m still not satisfied. I kind of like that it’s still a work in progress. It gives me something to do and something to strive for.

Is Yamalube 2m oil Adequate Enough For Me?

Quads in QueenstownI’m always worried that I’m not taking good enough care of my outboard engine. My boat is the second biggest purchase of my life so I want to make sure that it’s going to last and not give out on me in a few years. I follow the manufacturer’s directions on how to maintain it and I often ask mechanics to give me tips and advice.

The other day, I was wondering if I should change the kind of oil I am using on my outboard engine. I currently use Yamalube 2m Oil and it works fine for me, but I’m curious if another brand will have more benefits. I want to try some fully synthetic oil because I read that it protects the engine better. My current oil is only partially synthetic. The other kind is more expensive so I am kind of apprehensive to switch because it might do the same things my current oil does, but for a higher price. Most people say that it can be beneficial to switch but using the same brand also a safe way to go. I think I’m just going to stick with what I am currently doing.

Rainy Days Marks The Changining Of My Yamalube Oil

NSR50ITEMS001There’s usually not much to do on rainy days. I can’t do any yard work or any outdoor repairs to my house. My wife usually takes care of the inside of the house and she doesn’t really need me to fix or clean anything. So on rainy days, I like to sit in the garage and work on my boat. It keeps me busy and prevents me from spending the entire day in front of the television watching mindless shows.

I try to change my outboard motor oil at least once every two months. I’ve been using Yamalube oil and it hasn’t given me any problems. I like the sound and feel of a well-maintained engine. I also check to see if I need to replace any parts or if any parts are showing some major wear. I usually check the internet for any parts that I need. I don’t take my boat out very often in the winter, but I always make sure that it’s in good condition.

Taking Chances Without Yamalube 2 Cycle Oil

dogbaotMy friend likes to do everything by the book and doesn’t usually stray from the given instructions. That’s fine if you want to live a boring life but I prefer to take some chances. I like to ignore the GPS sometimes and find my own directions to my destination. I go to restaurants I’ve never been to and try their food to see if it’s any good. I also like to take the trail less traveled whenever I go hiking. Sometimes you find that there is more out there if you decide to venture out and trust your own instincts.

My friend recently found out that I don’t use the recommended Yamalube 2 Cycle Oil for my outboard engine. I told him that I use another brand that was a little bit cheaper in price but is essentially the same product. He argued that the manufacturer puts certain synthetics in the Yamalube oil that is custom made for the outboard engine. My engine was running fine ever since I made the switch but my friend still wasn’t convinced. He told me that I spent a lot on my engine therefore I should take care of it by using the right products for it. I haven’t decided to take his advice yet. I’m just waiting and seeing if anything will go wrong with my engine.

Mercury Outboard Oil And Other Things On My Day Off

mercury-150-4-stroke-1Every now and then I need a day to myself to relax and catch up with everything that I’ve neglected to do because I was trapped in my everyday routine. My weekends are usually flooded with family activities and household chores so sometimes that makes me busier than I am during the weekdays. I need a day off from everything to get my tasks accomplished.

Last week, I called out of work because I really needed a day to myself to do the things I wanted to do. I started the morning off by sleeping in until about 10am. After that, I cooked myself a breakfast burrito and watched ESPN until noon. I needed to pick up some Mercury outboard oil from the store so I did that after I took a shower. I always enjoy going to the store during the hours when people are out working. There are always less people. I also caught up on some television shows that have been on my DVR for the past month. I also played a pick-up game of basketball at the park. I haven’t played in a couple of months and I was rusty.  I missed the majority of my shots and got really winded early in the game. All in all, it wasn’t a bad day off. It’s too bad these days are few and far between.
