Mercury 2 Stroke Oil and Other Winterizing Supplies

WebPicture-560x245As the cold air sets in, it’s time to get your two-stroke engine ready for the winter. The change in temperature will make your engine have different needs, since it will be working under new conditions. In order to get ready for the season, there are a few things you will need to buy to extend the life of your motor, even during the winter.

You will need to get the right mercury 2 stroke oil, along with fogging oil. Other materials include lower unit gear lube, gasoline additive, CRC or WD, marine grease, lower unit gear lube pump, and new fuel. The cost of all of these materials is typically around $50, but will make sure you get the most out of your motor. The investment definitely pays for itself.

Advantages of a Two Stroke Engine with Mercury Outboard Oil

02For many consumers, there doesn’t sound like there is much of a different between a two stroke engine and a four stroke engine. The first thing to understand when it comes to the differences between the two is what a stroke actually is. A stroke in an engine is the movement of the piston going up or down. The power stroke is when the gasoline in the cylinder fires.

This is what creates the power that is used to make a vehicle operate. In a two stroke engine, every second stroke is the power stroke whereas every fourth in a four stroke engine is the power stroke. This means a two stroke engine can be considered ‘more powerful,’ which many people consider to be a huge advantage. Just make sure to buy the right mercury outboard oil to maintain your engine properly.

Best Mercury Engine Oil Mix

mercury_250verado-sternrunEngines are complicated things. For mechanics, it’s like second nature to figure out what oil is right for your engine, and doesn’t take much to figure out why one is more beneficial than the next. For those who are not so trained in the art of maintaining mechanics, it can be overwhelming to even decipher which oil is made for which vehicle.

If you have a mercury engine, knowing the right fuel to oil ratio is one of the most important pieces of information. You should have 50 parts of mercury engine oil to 1 part of gas. This will lengthen the life of your motor and ensure it runs more smoothly. Make sure to also have regular tune-ups twice a year when your boat is being used regularly.

Mercury Premium Plus for Relaxing Boat Rides

lifestyle 2_0My house is frequently full of kids. I’ve got three kids myself, between the ages of thirteen and seventeen, and our house has become the go-to ‘hangout spot’ for them and all of their friends. Because of this, there is rarely a time where I am able to have any quiet time to myself. I’m fine with my kids having their friends over, but I need to have some ‘me time.’

My favorite way of getting some time to myself is just by filling my boat up with Mercury Premium Plus and taking it out on the water. Sometimes I’ll go fishing and sometimes I’ll just use it as a nice way to get myself isolated so I can do something like read or listen to the radio, without any kids running around all over the place.

Mercury 2 Cycle Oil Prevents You from Getting Stranded

piston2Whenever I go boating, I always try to make sure that my boat is in its best condition possible. There are a lot of reports where I live of boats breaking down and people getting stranded out on the ocean, which is something that I obviously would prefer to completely avoid. That’s why I always live by the mantra of always being as prepared as possible.

I’ve got plenty of Mercury 2 cycle oil that I use on my boat, as well as all of the other necessary products that are required for proper maintenance. These products can include fuel, fuel additives, cleaning supplies, replacement parts, and plenty of other things. I also have a satellite phone that I take with me in case I ever get stranded out on the ocean for whatever reason.

Mercury Oil Leads to Major Life Moments

ar125561248540391Some of the best moments of my life have been out on a boat. I can think back on so many amazing memories that have involved boating over the course of my life, all the way back to when I was a little kid going out on boats with my parents. I spent tons of time with my friends in high school and college out on a boat as well.

The most recent major memory that involved boating was when I proposed to my fiancée, which I did while we were on a romantic boat ride together. Without boats and Mercury oil, I’d never have had all those great times. I’m very thankful that my parents introduced me to boating and that I met so many people with similar boat-related interests in my life.

I Drive the Boat, You Buy the Mercury Optimax Oil

15hpI’m typically the one of my friends who ends up driving on long car trips. The reason for this is just because I have the tendency to keep my car cleaner than my friends and there’s a lot more leg room in my Subaru than there is in most of my friends’ more compact cars. The deal is usually that if I drive, my friends will be the ones who cover the costs of gas.

In addition to being the one with the car, I’ve also got a boat, so our boating trips work very similarly to our road trips. I’m always willing to take people out on a boat trip, as long as they’re willing to cover the costs for fuel and Mercury Optimax oil. Generally, my friends are always fine with this set-up because we have such a great time on the boat.

Mercury Oil 55 Gallon Drum is Great for Multiple Boats

55_gallon_drumIf you or your family have multiple boats, you’ll wind up going through oil a lot quicker than you’d imagine. I’ve always believed that being prepared for these sorts of thing is far better than finding yourself running out of necessary materials at an inopportune time. This is why I always try to either buy bulk amounts of oil or large containers of oil for my family.

I try to at the very least keep a Mercury oil 55 gallon drum in my garage; I usually pretend like it’s not there so that if I do forget oil, I have a large supply to fall back on. I do the same kind of thing with my bank accounts – pretending the money in your savings account isn’t actually there is a great way to budget; that’s how I’ve been able to afford multiple boats.

Consistently Using the Best Outboard Motor Oil

about-optimaxWhen you’ve done a lot of work with boats, you start to get a feel for what are the best tools to work with. This can be anything from the physical tools required to do serious maintenance to something as simple as the motor oil used on the boat. I’ve definitely found a few favorites when it comes to the top brands in the motor oil industry.

I haven’t thought too hard about what specifically the best outboard motor oil might be though. I think what’s most important is that there’s a level of consistency. For instance, it is always best to use the oil that the engineers that designed your outboard motor had formulated especially for that particular motor.

Getting Specific with Mercury 2 Cycle Oil

11882891I’m not someone who’s particularly well-versed when it comes to mechanics. My husband is an engineer who understands things like that much better than I do, whereas I focused on artsy things when I was in college. Thus, when my husband asks me to run an errand for him that’s related to something mechanical he has to do, I always make sure to get all of the facts.

Recently, my husband decided that he was going to do the maintenance on our boat himself. He had the free time to do the work but needed me to pick up some extra items for him. I made him write down everything specific on a list, so that I wouldn’t confuse the Mercury 2 cycle oil that he needed with something else by mistake.
