Saving Money with Bulk Mercury Optimax Oil

Mercury-Marine-2Since a few of my buddies and I all have our own boats, we often alternate on whose turn it is to take their boat out and be the ‘driver’ for the day (or the weekend, depending on where we’re going). We take our boats out so often that we’ve essentially turned this into a bit of a routine, where we always know whose turn it is because we figured out an order.

Another way we make things easier on ourselves is by purchasing boat-related items in bulk. For instance, we’ll buy bulk Mercury Optimax oil when we know that we have to do maintenance and then we split the costs, which winds up being much less expensive than it would be for each of us to buy our own oil. It’s been an effective plan thus far.

Trusted Brands of Outboard Motor Oil

suzuki-outboard-propellers-300x199In the time that I worked as an assistant in a boat mechanic’s workshop, I learned a great deal about the intricacies of boats and boat maintenance. Not only did I learn about the inner workings of boats themselves, but I also learned a lot about what types of items were used when mechanics did boat maintenance. I particularly remember learning about the brands they trusted.

The brands of outboard motor oil that they tended to trust the most were Yamaha, Mercury, and Evinrude. The things that I learned while working in that shop have carried over to my own life now that I have a boat of my own, so I always know what sorts of things I need to purchase when doing maintenance on my boat.

Bulk Outboard Motor Oil for a Boat Mechanic

dsc_0398My father has worked as a boat mechanic for many decades and I’ve been working in his shop for more than a year now. I don’t have nearly the amount of expertise regarding boats as he does, but I’m definitely learning. I’m not sure yet if it’s what I want to do with the rest of my life, but I enjoy boating and I enjoy learning about how boats work, so it’s nice for the time being.

Generally, I do all of the administrative work for the shop, though I also delve into the actual mechanics of things a little bit, primarily as an assistant. One part of my duties is to order all of the things that my dad needs to properly do boat maintenance, such as bulk outboard motor oil. That’s something that I find myself ordering often, which is why we get it in bulk.

Saving Money with Bulk Motor Oil

vegetable-oil5Whenever I buy groceries, I skip over the typical grocery stores and I go straight to Costco. For me, buying in bulk is the only way to go with pretty much anything. As long as you’ve got enough room to store the items that you’re purchasing and they aren’t quickly perishable, there’s almost no reason at all to not buy things in bulk.

Generally, buying in bulk means getting a lot more for a lot less; the cost is typically lower by volume if you’re buying something in bulk. This goes for more than just food-related items too. For instance, whenever I’m purchasing items for my car or boat, I go for bulk, such as bulk motor oil. This way, I never have to worry about getting more and I get it for a better price.

Using Evinrude XD50 Oil like My Friends

boating_friendsThe majority of my friends have their own boats and I go out boating and fishing with them pretty frequently. However, I always felt like I was mooching off them a bit because I never had my own boat and we were always alternating with my friends’ boats. Recently, I decided to finally bite the bullet and purchase my own boat so that I could contribute.

Luckily, all of my friends were all really well-versed when it came to boats, so I was able to get a lot of advice about what kind of boat to get. Additionally, they were able to help me figure out what sort of maintenance supplies I would need. For instance, when it came to my oil needs, they guided me towards Evinrude XD50 oil, as it was generally what they used as well.

Arguing About the Best Outboard Motor Oil

SB1C985_sI’m always arguing with my brother about things; we’re both natural-born arguers and we were both even on the Debate team when we were in high school. Sometimes we have a tendency to just argue for hours about the most trivial things. We are never really unfriendly,  but we often both find ourselves becoming very passionate about whatever we’re arguing about.

We recently got into a debate over what the best outboard motor oil for boats is. Personally, I think it’s Mercury oil, while my brother is on the side of Evinrude oil. As per usual, we had to agree to disagree, because we’re both particularly stubborn when it comes to changing our minds. Neither of us ever wants to admit when we think the other might be right.

Betting with Evinrude Oil

xd50My best friend and I can be a little on the competitive side. We’re always finding ways to turn things into bets and competitions. Most recently, when we were hanging out on a boating trip, we decided that we would have a fishing contest. All we needed to do was set up the parameters of the bet, so we could figure out exactly what the stakes would be.

I promised that I would buy him some Evinrude oil for his boat if he won the contest, and he said he would do the same for me if I won. I thought that would be a fair wager and that we were pretty evenly matched. I was wrong about one thing though; he caught way more fish than I did. He’s clearly more of an expert fisherman than I am, but I was happy to pay up.

2 Cycle Oil in a Better Boat

PM703102AI always feel like when my younger brother makes purchases, he’s trying to catch up with the things that I have just purchased. I’ll purchase a new car, then he’ll purchase a new car. I move into a new place, then he moves into a new place. I think some of these instances have been coincidences, but it’s still something that seems to happen a whole lot.

Most recently, this happened with a boat; I purchased a boat, and then he went out and purchased a boat. While sometimes it’s been a coincidence, I’m pretty sure that this one wasn’t. He always tries to compete with me, so he’s sure to bring up things about his boat whenever he can. My boat uses 2 cycle oil quite efficiently though, much better than his, so I have that advantage.

Bulk Mercury Optimax Oil to Stay Prepared

I’ll be the first to admit it: I take better care of my boat than I take care of my car. I’m not really sure why that is, especially since I’m very aware of it, but for some reason, keeping my boat pristine and well-maintained is extremely important to me and my car kind of gets left on the back-burner sometimes. My car runs fine and all, but I often am a little late with its maintenance.

With my boat, I’m always completely prepared for any kind of maintenance. My garage is full of bulk Mercury Optimax oil, so I’m always able to keep my boat well-maintained. I think I have a greater fear of getting stranded out on the ocean because of a poorly maintained boat than I worry about anything happening to my car.

Hoarding Bulk Outbaord Motor Oil

!B51F5DgCGk~$(KGrHqF,!jEEyd8QJlnSBMvI7QT1gw~~_35My father passed away recently and me and my siblings been trying to clean out his home, which has been a bit difficult, to say the least. Our mother had passed on years ago, and since then my father had hopped aboard the doomsday train, so to speak. In his later years, he had gotten really obsessed with the possibility of the world ending in December 2012.

Because of his obsession, he started hoarding. Almost enough to be on that reality show. He filled up his home with all kinds of stuff and even had a bunker installed for the supposed end of days. Of course, he didn’t foresee there being no end of days and us having to clean up after him. Sometimes we find useful things, however, like I found a bunch of bulk outboard motor oil stashed away in a corner.

Mercury Engine Oil Fuels Boating Experiences

012There’s really nothing better than taking your boat out on a warm day. A lot of people ask me how it is I enjoy boating considering I’m not really interested in fishing. Some of my friends are big fishermen and whenever they take their boats out, they’re usually doing it just to go fishing. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of fishing but I love being out on the water.

Sometimes I’ll take the boat somewhere that I can swim around or I’ll just cruise around in my boat for a while. I think that you can have a lot of fun in a boat even if you aren’t going fishing. Because I like taking my boat out so often, I always make certain to keep everything ready with its maintenance, and I keep stocked up on Mercury engine oil to keep things running smoothly.

Secluded Fishing With Yamalube 2M Oil

Boys-FishingWhen I was a kid and I used to go fishing with my dad, we’d usually stand at a bridge near a creek where there were a bunch of other dads with their kids teaching them how to fish. It was fun, but it always felt like it was loud enough to scare off the fish and you’d wind up getting your hooks tied to other people’s lines so often that it became a real nuisance.

These days, when I go fishing – with my dad, with my friends, or by myself – I skip over the bridge by the creek and instead, I take my boat out somewhere that’s a little bit more secluded to really get away from it all. Of course, I make sure that my boat is well maintained before I take it out by myself, always filling it up with Yamalube 2M oil.
