Christmas Shopping

It’s getting to be that time of year again when Christmas is just around the corner. I’ve been trying to get all the shopping for Christmas presents out of the way but my family never really gives me any hints of what I should buy them and when I ask them what they want, they usually nonchalantly say that they can’t think of anything specific and that I’ll figure something out.

I had to pretty much improvise when I was picking up Christmas presents for everyone. I got some candles and things like that for my mom. I got my dad some 2 cycle oil for his boat, because I figured you could never have enough for that. And I got some video games for my little brother, because all he really does is play video games.

Nautical Supplies Store

I went to a nautical supplies store with a friend of mine. They sell all kinds of things there, from scuba gear to fishing rods to boating equipment. Personally, I was there to pick up some fly fishing tackle. I’ve been going fishing for a long time but I’d never done any fly fishing before and I thought it’d be something new and fun to do to mix up our next fishing trip.

While I was taking a look at the different fly rods and accessories that the store had available, my friend was checking out general boating supplies because he recently got a new boat. He wound up picking up some Yamalube 2M oil for his boat because he needed to do some maintenance on it.

Best of the Best

I can’t stand when people settle for less than the best! It’s always been a pet peeve of mine when people go for the cheaper, off-brand items that are clearly of lower quality than brand-name high quality products. I feel this way about everything; toaster pastries, toilet paper, and especially anything that I use on my car or my boat.

Seeking out the best outboard motor oil for your boat is something that I believe is genuinely important. People shouldn’t be settling for less than the best if they want something that lasts and is of excellent quality. If you’re not getting the best products, you might have a boat or car or something else that doesn’t work when you need it to, and when it comes to your car or your boat, this could become a matter of life and death.

Out Early from the Concert

I went to a concert recently and I had a lot of fun there. It was an electronic concert, which was something that was new to me, and I think the doors opened around seven-thirty PM and I showed up around eight. I didn’t know most of the opening acts at all but the venue was large enough for my friends and I to have some drinks and chat while we waited for the headliner.

The headliner showed and was on for probably an hour and it was pretty awesome. By the time we left, it was only about ten-thirty PM, maybe on the cusp on eleven. I got home early enough to do an oil change on my boat with the Mercury outboard oil that I had, so that I’d be able to go out boating the next day like I had wanted to.

Be Prepared

I prefer to buy things in bulk as opposed to buying products individually. I’ve always been a big fan of places like Costco where I can buy massive amounts of the products I need for decent wholesale prices. I do this with food – preferably with the kind of food that doesn’t expire too quickly – and I do this with many other different kinds of products that I use regularly.

For instance, I do this with products that I use to maintain my car and my boat, mostly because I believe it’s better to already be prepared for a problem or an oil change or something like that than it is to not be prepared at all. If you’ve got enough bottles of two cycle oil, you don’t have to go out too often and find more of it, as long as you keep the oil in a safe place.

Breaking In An Engine

Breaking in a new two cycle motor before you really take it out for a spin is very important and it’s something many people forget about. Some say that the first ten hours that you treat your motor will reflect how the boat runs for the entire time you have it. What’s important at first is to use some extra lubrication.

If you have a non oil injected engine, you should run two pints of two cycle outboard oil to every six gallons of gas. With an oil injected engine, you should instead run one pint to every six gallons. You should also make sure to limit your RPMs and make sure that you don’t get too close to max RPM within the first ten hours or so of running your boat.

Service Robots

I’ve always wanted to have my own personal robot; I’m hoping that personal robots will be something that we are able to have within my lifetime. I just like the idea of having a robot servant that could work as a butler, a maid, a driver, a cook, and everything else that you’d have to pay actual people a weekly wage, rather than the one-time fee of purchasing a service robot.

I’m sure that you would need to regularly do some sort of service on your service robot or something. I don’t know how it would work though because I don’t know much about robotics. Would they need an oil change like a car or a boat does? I don’t think I could power a robot with Mercury oil but I guess I could always try.

I Will Go Down with My Ship

I went through a pretty annoying experience recently: to sum things up succinctly, my boat sank. It was pretty awful; what happened was that my boat got caught up on some rocks and upon getting it off of those rocks, a piece of one of the rocks broke off and violently smashed enough of a hole in my boat to make it start going under.

Having been a fan of boating for so long, I never thought I’d have to experience my boat sinking. It was pretty awful and it’s given me a bit of distaste towards boating, at least for the time being. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing a new boat anytime soon, that is. I boxed up all of my bottles of Mercury oil and gave it to my best friend, who recently bought his own boat, because I don’t think I’ll be needing it anytime in the near future.

Perhaps a Mermaid, but Probably Not

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I swear that the last time I went out on my boat, I saw a mermaid. It might have had something to do with the fact that I hadn’t eaten in a couple of days and I was dehydrated and hungover and I had dropped my glasses overboard at the time, but I’m still pretty sure that’s what I saw.

My friends have pointed out to me all of the reasons why I probably didn’t see what I thought I saw, but I’m an optimist and I’m a believer. I’ve decided that I’m going to see if I can find the mermaid again under similar circumstances in the same place. I’m going to load my boat up with Mercury oil and make sure everything’s all set before I go out and try to find her again.

Long Weekend

I’m a business executive and my job can be very stressful, so whenever I get a chance to take some time off of work – especially if it’s paid time – I leap at the opportunity to fit some relaxation into my usual busy schedule. Whenever there’s a long weekend for some reason, such as for Thanksgiving or Labor Day, I always make sure to find something interesting to do.

On our most recent long weekend, I decided it would be a good time to go out on a boat trip. After I got off of work and started up the weekend, I made sure to pick up some Mercury engine oil on my way home. This way, I could quickly ensure that my boat was up to par when it came to its required maintenance.

Cabin in the Woods

As a huge fan of horror movies, I made my life goal to build an isolated cabin in the woods. I’ve been working for it for a number of years and it’s coming along quite nicely. What’s perfect about it is that it’s located on an island that’s a small distance away from my actual home, which is fairly out there in the first place.

I have a dock right nearby my backyard, which is where I keep my boat. The boat is how I travel back and forth from my main house to the cabin on the woodsy island. With the right amount of Yamaha outboard oil, I was able to maintain my boat so that it wouldn’t have any problems getting to and from my cabin.

Watching a Dumb Movie

My friends and I have a tradition where we watch the movie Waterworld starring Kevin Costner every Thanksgiving. I don’t know how we wound up choosing to do this on Thanksgiving, because there’s no actual relation between the holiday and the movie, but that’s just what we do. The movie is considered one of the biggest box office flops of all time, in that an enormous amount of money was spent in its creation and very little was made back, and overall, it’s a pretty god-awful movie.

Basically, it’s a film set in a future where the polar ice caps have melted and everyone travels around on water. Everybody travels around on boats and people are looking for dry land. I’ll save you the time, they find some dry land, and it’s the peak of Mount Everest. It’s pretty dumb. All the riding around on boats, however, inspired me to pick up some Evinrude XD50 oil and go out on my own boat the next day.
